SINGAPORE, July 25, 2022 / — Data Center First Pte Ltd will livestream their groundbreaking for Phase 1 of their maiden 30MW data centre project in Nongsa Digital Park, Batam Indonesia. The new data centre, Nongsa One, is designed and constructed to Uptime Tier III standards and is expected to complete by the end of Q4 2023.

Data Center First has officially broken ground for their maiden data centre, Nongsa One, located in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) of Nongsa Digital Park (NDP). Sitting on 2.57 hectares of land, Phase 1 of the campus will be a two-story building with 6 megawatts of critical IT load. The building has a gross floor area (GFA) of 6,084.6 sqm and is configured with 4 independent data centre halls.

Jakarta’s growing digital economy is driven by a more competitive telecommunications industry and a robust ICT industry. Data Center First Nongsa One supports this growth in the digital economy by being the home of the “digital bridge” between Indonesia and Singapore.

Nongsa One provides the platform that expands connectivity opportunities between the Singapore Hub and Jakarta Hub that connects the region and Indonesia respectively. Nongsa One is the neutral infrastructure that will link the 2 digital economies making Batam the crossroad of the digital world. Data Center First has to-date secured connectivity from three subsea providers, two international network service providers and two business ISPs that connect Singapore to Jakarta via NDP at Data Center First Nongsa One.

Mr Ka Vin Wong, Chief Executive of Data Center First said: “This groundbreaking event brings to reality the potential for implementing near-shoring ICT business strategy for the digital economies of Indonesia and Singapore. It is an exciting and catalytic growth opportunity for the region as the world economy continues to find new growth in a post pandemic era.”

Nongsa One in Nongsa Digital Park signals a new wave of international collaboration. Digital native businesses and enterprises in Jakarta can now exploit this world-class infrastructure to expand westward to Sumatra and to protect their currently deployed digital assets against natural disasters. Similarly, Singapore-based enterprises and digital natives can now gain faster access to the 273.5 million digital natives in the Indonesian market.

In doing so, the customer community at Nongsa One will make NDP an effective Digital Bridge bringing benefits to both Singapore and Indonesia. Data Center First is privileged to take this leadership role in providing the data centre platform for this purpose.
